On May 5 the Washington DC City Council approved the recognition of same sex "marriages" from other states by a 12 to 1 vote in favor of recognition. Bishop Harry Jackson of the High Impact Leadership Coalition has filed a request to place the law recognizing same sex "marriages" before Washington DC voters as a referendum.
The DC Board of Elections and Ethics will hold a Special Board Meeting to decide whether this is a proper subject for a referendum. The Special Meeting is on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 10:30 am at 441 4th St. NW, Room 2nd Floor South Side, Zoning Hearing Room(One Judiciary Square Building). Please attend this meeting to show your support for letting DC voters decide whether or not same sex "marriages" from other states should be recognized. Also, call and email the Board of Elections office to show your support for this referendum and/or to register to testify tomorrow:
